Lenghu:So Far the Best Site for Stargazing

Where is the best site for #stargazing ? 

 

Lenghu, an old oil town called “cold lake” in English in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, offers a choice. 

 

High altitude – 2,000 meters above

Low temperature variation in median night -- around 2.4

Dry climate and remarkably clear sky 

 

9 different telescopes are to be built in Lenghu observation site, and it is expected to be the largest #astronomical observation site in China. 

 

More important, the discovery and construction of the site will change the fact that all the world's best optical astronomical observation sites are currently located in the Western Hemisphere.
